Training and Education

Thursday March 22, 2018 - 21:37

The SciNet Education site supports training and courses for users of our high performance computing resources. To enroll in any of our courses and training sessions, you need one of the following two kinds of accounts to enroll on the education:

  1. A regular SciNet user account:
Such accounts also give access to SciNet's computing resources, but are restricted to academic research faculty and their students and collaborators (details on how to obtain one can be found here).
  2. A temporary SciNet education account:
This does not come with access to computing resources. Temporary accounts are given on an ad hoc basis, typically to university (grad) students that do not (yet) have a faculty supervisor that can sponsor them for a regular account.
No account is needed if you just want to peruse the material. Regular SciNet user accounts are the preferred kind by far.

If you already have an account but are not sure which kind, check if your login name starts with tmp_. If so, you have a temporary account.

To reset your password for the first kind of account, go to the password reset page for SciNet user accounts. If you know your old SciNet user password and want to change it, that can be done on that same SciNet portal page too.

To reset your password for the second kind of account, i.e., a temporary account, please write us a message using this form. Mention your name, temporary login name and that you wish to reset the password for your temporary education account in the message.

If you had a temporary account, but just received your regular SciNet account, let us know using the same same form, mentioning your name, your temporary login name and your new SciNet user name.
